The Future in Leadership

IYD is proud to endorse extraordinary Democratic candidates for state and local offices in Indiana. Our mission is to elect candidates who represent our shared Democratic values and advocate for what’s best for all Hoosiers.

One of the most integral parts of our mission will always be to elect candidates who represent our shared Democratic values and advocate for what’s best for all Hoosiers.

MITCH GORE

Now, at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Mitch works to reduce violent crime and rethink how we treat addiction. He believes that the best way to keep our community safe is for law enforcement to respect the people they serve.

nicholas nelson

ALLEN COUNTY SURVEYOR

Not only to serve our environment but the people who elect me to office.” Nicholas has 7 years of management, marketing and customer service experience that he plans to bring to the office of the Allen County Surveyor. He plans to work with professionals to ensure the office is being held to its federal and state standards.

emma steele

INDIANA HOUSE DISTRICT 84

My decision to run originated from my disappointment in the abhorrent sitting representation of IN-84. I do not believe prioritization of issues reflects the concerns of everyday Hoosiers. Issues such as the environment, education, equality, the accessibility of health care, and the furtherment of workers’ rights need to be addressed rather than hidden in favor of political agenda. I love my community, I want to see us all thrive well into the future. A future where our children have a chance, a future where our state government has the backs of workers, and a future where accessible health care is a reality. These concerns need a voice and I vow to be that voice for you.

TABITHA BARTLEY

INDIANA SENATE DISTRICT 7

“I am running for office because we need more proactive servant leadership,” said Bartley. “Now is not the time for inaction. We must continue to work together to address the issues of our communities, counties and state. It’s time to make that change happen.”

MAUREEN BAUER

INDIANA HOUSE DISTRICT 6

I am honored to receive the endorsement of Indiana Young Democrats. Serving as State Representative of my home town of South Bend, I will remain committed to creating a health care system that is equitable, and working for all Hoosiers. As a graduate of Indiana public high school and public university, I will prioritize fully funding and supporting policy that strengthens our public schools and educators. As someone who learned about leadership and service at a young age from my own family, I understand the commitment required of this position, and I remain dedicated to improving the quality of life for working families.

PABLO HURTADO

INDIANA HOUSE DISTRICT 85

I want to represent the people of Indiana State District 85 because they deserve someone who supports their best interests and who is not only willing to hear their concerns, but is accessible to his constituents. I am committed to enacting changes in our state to create a more inclusive and welcoming place for all people. Teachers, union workers, and the working class have been neglected for far too long and I am running to change that.

LAUREN HERNANDEZ-DECRANE

“Republicans have been trading seats for years by running unopposed, giving the voters no choice. I am running to give the voters a choice. I have seen enough, and it is time to join this fight. I encourage all young democrats to do the same next election because anyone can run for local government.”

kyle miller

INDIANA HOUSE DISTRICT 81

As a person, this is what drives me. We have to ensure that families across Fort Wayne are given the tools to succeed. We must make sure that everyone, regardless of ability or economic status has access to the best that public education has to offer. We absolutely must ensure that child care is affordable for every family.

ANDREW MISHLER

INDIANA HOUSE DISTRICT 48

As a person, this is what drives me. We have to ensure that families across Fort Wayne are given the tools to succeed. We must make sure that everyone, regardless of ability or economic status has access to the best that public education has to offer. CHRISTINA HALE

US Congress IN-05

A lifelong Hoosier, Christina Hale was born and raised in Michigan City, Indiana. In 2012, Christina defeated a long-term incumbent to represent Indiana’s 87th District in the General Assembly. During her time in office, Christina continued to focus on issues affecting children and families and passed 60 bills — all with bipartisan support. In 2016, Indiana’s Democratic gubernatorial nominee, John Gregg, named Christina as his running mate and nominee for Lieutenant Governor. Christina is now the Democratic nominee in the race to replace retiring Rep. Susan Brooks in Indiana’s 5th Congressional District. The race is rated among one of the most competitive in the country and is considered a toss-up by major nonpartisan election forecasters.

TIM GUST

GRAYLIN PORTER

HARRISON COUNTY COUNCIL AT-LARGE

Since 2016, I have become increasingly frustrated by the political landscape. After watching so many women run and win races across the county at all levels of government, I decided to run here in Harrison County. A county that desperately needs a new voice — one that listens to and cares about the people. Recently one of the current councilmembers jokingly asked me, “You sure you want to do this?” and I can say with certainty that YES I AM.

MELISSA FISHER

ALLEN COUNTY COUNCIL

Melissa Fisher represents a purposeful transformation for Allen County. If you have had the opportunity to encounter her, you may have noticed her innate ability to offer positivity and hope with a friendly smile and larger than life laughter. However, you would also note that she has a passion for connecting people to reach significant goals to improve people’s lives daily. Melissa believes we can be a force to uplift every person in Allen County by serving with strength, ethics, and a heart for inclusivity in our community and leadership, as well as offering her voice to hold our leaders accountable in governance and fiscal responsibility.

pete cowden

INDIANA SENATE DISTRICT 35

I promise to work as hard as the Hoosiers of our district do in order to make sure government fights for them. I believe Government is best when hardworking people are elected to serve their community, instead of individuals serving their own ambitions. As your next State Senator, I pledge to Listen, Serve, and Unite to fight for our community.

Dr. Woody Myers

INDIANA GOVERNOR

I’m running to be Governor of Indiana, because our state needs new leadership that puts people first, not politics. Alyssa has outlined her main focuses in a plan she calls READ. With her READ plan, she has a vision to (R)evitalize district 62 by focusing on (E)ducation, (A)ccessible and Affordable Health Care and (D)eveloping the economy.

CHIP COLDIRON

US CONGRESS IN-03

Hoosiers deserve broadband to every last mile, agricultural progress and economic growth, adequately funded public schools, worker representation, living wage opportunities, and safe working conditions. All Hoosiers deserve a fair opportunity for the American dream. This is a campaign built on issues, and, while I wish they were handled locally, the issues on which I am running are handled at the Statehouse. I am the candidate who will represent YOUR interests in the Legislature, not a Political Action Committee, not a party, not a special interest group. I am running on the issues I will promote as your State Representative, not divisive political rhetoric.”
